Privacy
This page explains what personal data we collect when you use mydrate.co.uk, why we collect it, who sees it and what your rights are. We have kept it short and plain. If anything is unclear, email us.
Who we are
Mydrate Ltd runs this website and sells Mydrate electrolyte sachets. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.
- Company number: 16991728, registered in England and Wales
- Registered office: 9 Windermere Road, Handforth, Wilmslow, SK9 3NJ
- Email: hello@mydrate.co.uk
What we collect and why
- Orders. When you buy from us we collect your name, email address, delivery and billing address, phone number if you give one, what you ordered and how you paid. Your card details go straight to our payment providers; we never see your full card number. We use this to take payment, deliver your order, handle returns and refunds and answer your questions. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you. We also keep order records because tax law requires it (legal obligation), and Shopify runs fraud checks on orders (our legitimate interest in preventing fraud).
- Subscriptions. If you subscribe, our subscription system stores your payment method securely and charges it for each delivery until you cancel. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you.
- Customer accounts. If you log in to a customer account at checkout, your account details are kept so you can see your orders and manage your subscription. Lawful basis: performing our contract with you.
- Contacting us. When you email hello@mydrate.co.uk we keep your message and our reply so we can help you and keep a record of what was agreed. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in providing customer service, or our contract with you if it concerns an order.
- Email updates. If you give us your email address to hear from us, we use it to send you news and offers. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email. Lawful basis: your consent.
- Review invitations. After a purchase we may invite you to review Mydrate on Trustpilot. Trustpilot receives your name, email address and order reference for that purpose only. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in understanding what customers think.
- Flavour vote. Voting for our next flavour records only the flavour you chose, with nothing that identifies you. Your browser remembers that you voted so we do not ask again.
- Using the website. Our hosting provider records the IP address and browser details of each request to keep the site secure and working. Lawful basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website. If you accept analytics cookies (see Cookies below), Shopify analytics also records the pages and products you look at and what you add to your basket, so we can understand how the site is used. Lawful basis: your consent.
We do not use advertising pixels, third-party analytics, cross-site tracking, chat widgets or social media plugins on this website. If that changes we will update this page and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
Who we share it with
- Shopify hosts this website, runs checkout and customer accounts and stores your orders.
- Our payment providers receive your payment details to take payment.
- Delivery. Your name and address go to our delivery courier.
- Our email marketing platform holds the details of people who have opted in to email updates so we can send them.
- Trustpilot sends review invitations, as described above.
- Advisers and authorities. Our accountants, and HMRC or other authorities where the law requires it.
We never sell your personal data.
Where your data goes
Shopify and some of the providers above process data outside the UK, including in the EU, Canada and the United States. Where that happens we rely on the UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Addendum to the standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Order, payment and refund records: 6 years after the end of the financial year in which you ordered, because tax law requires it.
- Subscription and account details: for as long as your subscription or account is active, then as part of the order records above.
- Emails and customer service messages: up to 2 years after the last message.
- Email marketing: until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you.
- Analytics data: held by Shopify under its own retention rules. The cookies themselves expire as set out below.
Cookies
Essential cookies are needed for the site to work and do not need your consent:
- session remembers your basket once you have added something to it. Set by this site, deleted when you close your browser.
- _shopify_essential records the cookie choice you made so we do not keep asking. Set by Shopify, kept for 1 year.
- Shopify checkout sets its own essential cookies on the checkout pages.
Analytics cookies are only set if you accept them:
- _shopify_y (1 year) and _shopify_s (30 minutes) power Shopify analytics, which tell us how visitors use the site.
- _shopify_analytics and _shopify_marketing (1 year) are set only when you allow those categories, and record that you did.
The site also uses browser storage (not a cookie) to remember that you voted in the flavour vote. It holds no personal data.
Changing your choice. Click "Cookie settings" at the bottom of any page to reopen the banner, or delete cookies in your browser settings. Declining analytics cookies does not affect your basket or checkout.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask us to: tell you what personal data we hold about you and give you a copy; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to how we use it; give it to you in a portable format; and, where we rely on your consent, withdraw that consent at any time. Email hello@mydrate.co.uk. We will reply within one month and will not charge you. We may need to check your identity first.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, please tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
